Pet Travel

Making world travel accessible.

Pet travel is a becoming more and more commonplace for families. Our USDA veterinarians are here to help! Whether domestic or international, each state/country has their own set of requirements for successful entry of the pet.

Examinations, blood testing, microchipping, parasite medications and vaccinations are examples of the most common requirements. And the timing of these requirements is CRITICAL before an endorsed health certificate can be provided.

If travel is new for your pet, our veterinarians can discuss ways to help ease your pet’s stress during travel.

Seeking services early and proper planning are vital for success.

DTLAvets is not a transport company and we provide health certificates for companion dogs and cats only. We will need preliminary information regarding your pet, your destination, approximate date of entry and your pet’s medical history (vaccines and microchip). Once we have all of this information, we can help you create an individualized plan for next steps and schedule properly-timed future appointments for the tests and services your pet will need to travel successfully.

All information regarding requirements to enter a state or country can be found on the aphis.usda.gov/pet-travel website. This is the definitive resource for all information and is what we use to guide you through the process. We highly recommend that you also familiarize yourself with this site and with your destination’s specific requirements. Preparation for all pet travel to Australia is an extremely lengthy process (at least 6-8 months) and requires you to work directly with a pet transport company who will be responsible for coordinating the process.

Don’t forget to check with the airline itself. Sometimes they have their own set of requirements that must be satisfied which are totally apart from the health certificate process itself.

Don’t leave home
